Leadership

All of the positions and opportunities I have had the pleasure of pursuing have been great interpersonal  and developmental learning experiences for me. I have thoroughly enhanced my abilities to communicate and connect with the people around me from the pursuit of ambiguous situations.

Head of Rock Climbing and Ropes

Summer 2021 | Camp Seneca Lake

Right away, I had to quickly adjust to being the person that my co-workers turn to for help, even when I wasn’t always so all-knowing. Although it was difficult at first, I developed confidence in my abilities to make decisions, and I realized that humility is a key aspect to being part of a team.

Purdue University Climbing Wall Supervisor

Fall 2019 - present | West Lafayette, IN

In working here, I have been most passionate about assisting customers in achieving their goals. As a result, I have definitely enhanced the skill to communicate, especially given the (fairly) frequent event of rationalizing with someone who is terrified and 20 feet up in the air.

Purdue Climbing Club Officer of Outreach

Fall 2019 - Fall 2020 | West Lafayette, IN

As the coordinator of social media for the club, I became invested in marketing and outreach of club events. With the skills gained in this club, I was able to navigate other networking events and form connections in the future.

Purdue University Global Leadership in Peru

Summer - Fall 2018 | West Lafayette, IN

As a class, ambiguity was used as a powerful learning tool that taught me how to be flexible when difficult situations arise. When in a leadership role, I discovered that not every outcome can be seen, but it can be adjusted to and solved in some manner. And where better to learn that than a foreign country? My teacher had fun, to say the least!
